Dear Members of Boğaziçi University,

Universities are not merely institutions that produce knowledge; they are also entities that shape the future of societies, advance humanity’s shared cumulative knowledge, and help guide the world forward. For many years, Boğaziçi University has successfully fulfilled this responsibility through its deeply rooted academic tradition and strong institutional culture.

As a proud member of our university since 1994, I am honored to assume the responsibility of carrying this legacy further in my capacity as Rector.

I regard this position not merely as an administrative role, but as a responsibility to advance Boğaziçi University into a globally referenced institution, where excellence in knowledge production and high-quality education converge.

In the upcoming period, our primary objectives are place scientific research more firmly at the core of our university, to decisively enhance our international academic collaborations and global visibility, to strengthen our education and research ecosystem through digitalization and infrastructure investments, and to accelerate the transformation of knowledge into societal value through university–industry–public sector partnerships.

​Our aim as a university is not only to respond to the needs of today, but also to cultivate the knowledge and develop the human capital that will shape tomorrow’s world.

By preserving the long-established values of Boğaziçi University, I believe we will advance our university even further as an institution that pushes the boundaries of knowledge, contributes to humanity, and helps shape the future.
